Garmin, Why Can’t We Be Friends

Did you miss your chance to purchase a Nike Fuel Band? Don’t worry, although you can no longer get it directly through Nike, you can still find other vendors who carry remaining stock. My question to you is why invest in a product that is at the end of life (EOL)? Why not upgrade?!

The New Hotness

So you don’t have to ready the entire press release…Garmin Connect can now sync workouts to Nike+ Running. That means you can use your existing fitness devices and workouts with your new or existing Nike+ account. Not a bad deal considering both have a history of a walled garden ecosystem. Now you can some of these great devices and sync the results to your Nike+ account.

Now all of your workouts don’t have to be stuck in limbo. That’s always a bit of good news!

Official Press Release

Garmin is excited to announce today a global partnership with Nike, allowing athletes to connect their device to the Nike+ ecosystem. By linking their Garmin Connect™ or Garmin Connect Mobile™ account with the Nike+ Running App, users can seamlessly sync their device to take advantage of running with Nike+ and enjoy all the benefits of being a Nike+ community member.

To pair a device, download or open the updated Nike+ Running App on a compatible smartphone, select the Garmin icon within the “Partners” screen, tap “Connect” and log in using your Garmin Connect username and password.

This partnership is the latest from Garmin’s expanding fitness segment, which focuses on developing technologies and innovations to enhance users’ lives and promotes healthy and active lifestyles. Whether it’s running, cycling, or other athletic pursuits, Garmin fitness devices are essential tools for athletes both amateur and elite.
